Tell Your Client You Have Found Money

Your letter must get their attention and arouse interest in receiving the found money.

You must write your letter with a purpose in mind. That purpose is to get your client to sign the enclosed legal document and return it to you.

How do you do this?

There are standard steps to writing to produce action.

How to Produce Action

  1. Attention -- You must get your client's attention by stating a valuable benefit that is important to your client.
  2. Interest -- You must build your client's interest by explaining the details.
  3. Desire -- You must make your offer desirable.
  4. Action -- You must ask the client to take appropriate action that will produce a benefit for them.

Let's see how we can construct a letter that will gain their attention, arouse their interest, enhance their desire, and call them to action.

Let's start with getting their attention. A short sentence offering the possibility of money should do.

Our research department has located an amount of money that we believe should belong to you.

Next, let's build their interest by telling them about others you have identified as potential clients. This can be very general, but truthful.

We are working with people across the country who potentially have money coming to them. Some people will receive small sums of money while others obtain literally tens of thousands of dollars.

This money becomes unclaimed because people move, change their names, or lose track of certain funds and assets. Those who owe them money no longer can find them.

Perhaps this has happened to you.

Next, in building their desire for your help, you must tell them that it will be easy for them. If you are listed with a local Better Business Bureau, indicate it here. This will help build credibility.

Our research department is still examining your potential claim. You will not be inconvenienced in any way by our efforts. Nor will we require you to pay any money up front to cover our research efforts.

Our agency is registered with the (your community) Better Business Bureau and has located money that belongs to hundreds of people. You may contact the BBB at (123) 456-7890 during normal business hours to examine our references.

Finally, you describe your offer. You will locate and retrieve their money, asking only a "finder's fee" to compensate your research department for their efforts.

For your convenience, I've enclosed two copies our our agreement.

The agreement states that you appoint us to act as your agent in collecting the funds due you. For our efforts, you agree to compensate our research department with 20% (or other percent) of the gross proceeds.

After I receive your signed agreement, I will authorize our research department to complete their investigation and forward their findings to you.

It would be to your benefit to sign and return the enclosed forms soon so you can receive your money as rapidly as possible.

Thanks in advance for your attention.

And there you have it. Let's see what the completed letter looks like.
